Darrell E. Solomon    U.S. Army

Entered Service:  March 3, 1944 

KIA (Philippine Islands) Camp Hood, TX for training and later stationed at Fort Ord, California.

Combat Tour:  May 8, 1945, Killed in Action May 22nd.

Darrell Eugene Soloman was born in Perry Township, Plymouth County, Iowa on April 8, 1926. Darrell was the 3rd child born to John Herman Solomon and Alma (Craft) Solomon.  His mother died in 1984 and his father is still living at 103 years of age (8/20/2018) Darrell's siblings were Charles, Edna, Joyce, Darwin and Donald.  Darrell came home on furlough and married his childhood sweetheart on March 26, 1945.  Darrell was originally buried in the U.S Armed Forces Cemetary but was re-buried in Logan Park Cemetery in 1949.  He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart.
